“The gift of presence is the foundation of psychological first aid; it’s the reassurance that one is not alone in their struggle.”

Our Mission
At Voice That Cares (VTC), we are dedicated to empowering every person to live a mentally healthy and fulfilling life.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a world where mental health is a priority, and every individual has access to the support they need to thrive, overcome challenges, become resilient, and lead emotionally fulfilling lives.

- Realizes his or her abilities
- Can cope with normal stresses of life
- Can work productively, and
- Is able to make a contribution to his or her community
We believe that mental health is a basic human right. Every human being deserves access to affordable mental health care in an environment where they will not be judged. In tune with this belief, the Heartfulness Institute and Ripples of Change Foundation joined hands to launch Voice That Cares (VTC) to provide free tele-counseling to individuals seeking help for stressors that threaten their mental health and well-being. VTC was launched during the COVID-19 pandemic as a free psychosocial first-aid helpline to address the mental health crisis during the pandemic.
With the pandemic behind us, VTC has transitioned into a free psychological helpline that continues to support teens, young adults, and older adults to address a wide range of mental health challenges that stop individuals from realizing their full potential and making commendable contributions to society.
According to the 2016 National Mental Health Survey, only 17% of those who require mental health support are receiving it. There is a startling 83% treatment disparity.
Treatment gap is the discrepancy between the number of people in need of psychological help and the number of people who actually receive it. The stigma attached to seeking help for mental health concerns and unavailability of services are the biggest contributors to this gap.
We at VTC, aim to herald a change in the way people look at mental health, as well as bridge the treatment gap that currently exists in the mental health space by providing vital support, resources and referrals. Even if you are living in remote places, our free service is just a phone call away.

Internship
I’d like to continue this internship alongside my current university learning so I can readily apply what I’m learning to the internship. I’d also like to continue working as the internship has been interesting and fun working alongside my peers on the script on training purposes of future volunteers was one of my favourite moments. Throughout the internship, my aim was always to learn and grasp as much as possible and the aim will continue to be the same but now it will be teamed with a desire to contribute to VTC across as many projects and facets as possible including, but not limited to, the work done on the rehabilitation of patients in North India.
